Mission Statement

My mission is to create the right balance of excellent and engaging literature, opportunities for collaboration, and growth inducing challenges, so that my students have an "Aha!" moment in which each one realizes his or her own incredible potential for being creative and solving important problems.

Educational Background

Bachelor's in Elementary Education from University of Nebraska at Lincoln

Master's Degree in Literacy from Concordia

Fun Fact

I was in the Peace Corps in South Africa for two years.

Role Model/Superhero

One of my favorite historical characters is Sacagawea. She was a remarkable woman who through a great deal of resourcefulness and ingenuity saved the Corps of Discovery from getting hopelessly lost and possibly killed. She did all this with a baby strapped to her back. Sacagawea is extremely fun to teach about!

Fictional character

One of my favorite fictional characters, at the moment, is Tacky the penguin. He is goofy, fun-loving, and completely unafraid to be himself.

I also really enjoy Junie B. Jones and Big Nate.

When I’m not at school I’m usually

I enjoy going on adventures with my husband and my son. One of the things we love to do is go for a hike at Neal Woods, or just hit-up the local playgrounds.
