Classroom Assignments

Homework has many benefits for students.  Homework allows students to practice new skills, maintain skills already learned, extend their understanding of subjects, and prepare for tests.  Homework also helps develop independence, responsibility, and good work habits.

Homework Expectations:

1.  Complete any assigned homework (usually math or word work and reading)

2.  Study spelling core words.  Practice any words missed on previous tests.

3.  Read 15 minutes every night (including weekends)

4.  Practice basic math facts (flashcards/worksheets/games)

5.  All homework is due the next morning at 9:00 (NO EXCEPTIONS!!!) unless told otherwise.  If homework is not due the next school day, then I will write the due date on the paper.

6.  Any student that does not complete their homework will miss recess to finish the assignment.

Suggestions to help your child:

1. Set up a time that your child can quietly work on their homework.

2.  Have your child try their homework on their own first.  Help them if needed.

3.  Ask your child daily if they have homework (they should!).

4.  Make sure your child puts their homework back in their homework folder and backpack as soon as they are finished.
